The Consortium for Safer AI would like to fund research that will help establish the current state of knowledge in AI safety through a compilation of actual field failures of commercial products that operate using some level of AI technology.   The research should consist of two main components: (1) Examples of failures of AI-enabled products over the last 5 years - or more - and (2) a root cause analysis, to the extent possible, for each of these examples.

Interested applicants should submit a write up, no more than 2 pages, that describes the methodology that will be used to gather field failure examples along with the name, affiliation and expected contribution of each team member.

Only the winning applicant(s) will be notified by Nov. 20, 2017.  The final report for this project is expected on Jan. 10, 2018 The maximum funding amount available is $10,000. The applicant(s) will work together with one of the Consortium Sponsors to deliver the final report.
